Kim

Hey, I'm Kim. (technically Karishma, but that’s just on paper) I’m from the small coastal town of Mangalore, from where I did my graduation in Mathematics, Statistics and Computers from St Agnes Women's College. I studied HR at XLRI way back in 1997-1999. I started my career in Bombay (yes, it was Bombay in 1999) and over the last 21 years I've lived and worked in Bombay - Bangalore - Atlanta - Chicago - Bangalore - Gurgaon - Hyderabad - Bombay - Cairo - Dubai - Delhi - Guwahati - Ahmedabad - London - Johannesburg in that order That's 6 countries, 16 cities and counting. While I began my career in HR, I've donned many hats over the decades. I’ve taught OB at NMIMS, worked with the Supreme Council of Antiquities in Egypt and the American Research Center in Egypt on an IT transformation project for the Egyptian Museum, written on food and travel for newspapers like DNA and Deccan Herald and local magazines in cities I’ve lived in, edited a fashion magazine in Egypt to name a few. Training was another path I took for awhile - soft skills, NLP, TA, Ethics and Compliance, Leadership skills etc. During my Cairo stint, I started training expats on Intercultural Adaptation and that has remained an ongoing subject of interest, that has also developed into Relocation Consulting. I decided to formalise it a bit and have a Diploma in Intercultural Communication from Oxford. While technically I’m retired, I do a fair amount of freelance work on relocation and cultural adaptation. I'm currently exploring food in the context of history and heritage and hope to find inspiration for a thesis subject in the coming year. Our last cat died at the age of 15, 2 years ago - she was a well traveled cat. We currently have two 6 month old kittens who are extremely demanding of my time & attention and turning my hair completely grey.
